The Bull Moose Project Commends Sen. Lee for Taking on Netflix
Last year, Netflix announced it would purchase Warner Bros. Discovery, a deal which — if finalized — would give them control of an immense swathe of the entertainment industry. Fortunately, the Trump administration and antitrust titans in Congress are skeptical.
Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), who is holding a hearing on the deal next month, sent Netflix and Warner Bros. a letter outlining his litany of concerns over the proposed merger, which Lee said “appears likely to raise serious antitrust issues.” Lee also suggested that Netflix may be seeking to undermine their competitor via a “killer non-aquisition.”
Lee has suggested the deal “would mean the end of the Golden Age of streaming for content creators and consumers.” He’s right. It would be bad for competition, bad for the American entertainment industry, and bad for Americans. We urge everyone to tune into Senator Lee’s hearing next week — and for the Trump administration to block the deal.
