Statement on Judge Brinkema’s Outrageous Google Ruling
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Bull Moose Project President Aiden Buzzetti blasted Judge Brinkema after she let Google off the hook for their monopolistic practices:
“For years, Google has operated a monopoly via its use of AdX, which has allowed them to extort competitors by charging fees to host ads. The Department of Justice, along with a bipartisan collection of state attorneys general, sought to stop that in court.
But bafflingly, Judge Leonie Brinkema has now refused to force Google to divest itself of AdX, even though she had ruled their ad scheme to be an illegal monopoly just last year.
Tragically, this fits a pattern. Over our years of advocacy against dangerous monopolies like Google, we have consistently seen federal judges fail to uphold the law when it comes to this tech behemoth. That is why we strongly support laws which would go around recalcitrant courts and end Google’s monopoly once and for all.
We cannot fathom why a federal judge would be uninterested in enforcing her own decisions, but we hope that, should this case be appealed, more senior judges will be willing to do the right thing.”
