Bull Moose Project Applauds Upcoming FCC Vote to Repeal National TV Ownership Cap

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Bull Moose Project welcomes the Federal Communications Commission's announcement that it will vote in early August to repeal the national television ownership cap, a decades-old rule that has advantaged Big Media and Big Tech at the direct expense of local broadcasters.

"For too long, the national cap has tilted the playing field against local broadcasters in favor of Big Tech and Big Media in Hollywood, Silicon Valley, and New York," said Aiden Buzzetti, President of the Bull Moose Project. "While coastal elites have consolidated control over what the rest of the country sees and hears, America's trusted local broadcasters have been stifled by this outdated regulation. With this action, Chairman Carr is giving them a fighting chance.”

"Americans have lost trust in national media and Silicon Valley algorithms, but local broadcasters remain the most trusted source of news in America. They are the last real bulwark against a handful of coastal gatekeepers deciding which stories are worth telling. Broadcasters also play a vital role in American civic life, covering the town councils, schools, and communities that national networks and tech platforms ignore. Repealing the cap is essential to broadcasters' survival in a modern, competitive media landscape. We urge the full Commission to adopt the order at the vote in August."
