Letter Supporting FTC Suit Against Amazon
Washington, DC– The Bull Moose Project (BMP) announced today that it has sent a letter to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in support of the recent FTC lawsuit against Amazon. Joined by American Principles Project and the Internet Accountability Project, the letter states, “[Amazon] crushed American small businesses — including the mom and pop shops that fuel our heartland’s main streets — by the millions, and built its empire on the backs of the ones that remain — by recruiting them as third-party sellers in the Amazon online marketplace.”
“Even worse, the company routinely rips off its sellers’ popular products — their intellectual property — and sells their copies side-by-side, promoting its copycat products and undercutting its sellers’ prices. So sellers pay Amazon to list and sell their own products; Amazon sees what products do well; then Amazon gobbles up their market share with competing products of its own; and it uses competitor data it collects to muscle its own sellers out of the marketplace.”
