A Better Way on Georgia

Executive Summary

The MEGOBARI Act, pending before the United States Congress, would see sanctions placed on the government of Georgia and effectively end American relations with the current Georgian government. If passed, this bill would eliminate the president’s ability to make effective policy regarding Georgia (other than to effect regime change). An alternative – allowing Georgia to exist as a neutral “buffer” between Russia and the US – is a healthier idea, particularly in the multipolar world.
